Welsh Castles

RoFawr Farm lies on the floor of the Tywi valley halfway between historic Dryslwyn and Dinefwr castles. Both are easily seen from RoFawr and are but a short car journey away. Carreg Cennen castle is about a 20 minute drive. Be prepared to walk the last part in all three cases but you will be well rewarded with spectacular views when you get there.

All three castles are steeped in history. Dinefwr itself was once the seat of the princes of the south Wales kingdom of Deheubarth. The site itself dates back at least as far as 950AD when the great Welsh lawmaker Hywel Dda held sway here. Other famous early rulers such as Rhys ap Tewdwr and the Lord Rhys also used it as their principal stronghold.
